What is an AI-ready data layer?

An AI-ready data layer is a unified, normalized, context-enriched view of security telemetry that AI agents can reason over, the data foundation some vendors argue must exist before agentic security operations can work.

What it means

Proponents of the ingestion model argue AI needs all telemetry collected once, normalized to a common schema, and enriched with context before agents can reason across domains. This typically means routing endpoint, cloud, identity, network, and email data into a single store or SIEM. The approach delivers consistency but creates cost (paying to store data twice), latency (data must arrive before queries run), and lock-in (changing platforms means re-migrating).

Command Zero’s approach

How Command Zero handles AI-Ready Data Layer.

Command Zero does not require building a new AI-ready data layer. The Federated Data Model treats existing data sources as the data layer, agents query identity, endpoint, email, and cloud data directly via read-only APIs, in place, at investigation time. There is no consolidation project, no ingestion cost, and no migration. The "AI-ready" work that ingestion-based platforms front-load into a months-long data project, Command Zero replaces with direct-to-data queries that are live in under an hour.
